Richmond Rockets celebrate formation of new ABA basketball team.

The Richmond Rockets celebrated formation of their new ABA basketball team by having a signing party at the Boilerhouse restaurant, Tuesday, October 11, 2011.  The event included family of team members, city councilmen, and other local dignitaries, and the cheerleaders.  A beautiful full moon hung low over the El Cerrito hills as Rockets supporters admired the view of the Bay from this waterfront restaurant.

Rockets' head coach Lamar Baker Johnson was at the front door to greet the visitors as they arrived.  Soon afterwards the management team were introduced to the crowd and then came the players!  And then the cheerleaders!  Basketball fans who have been locked out along with the NBA teams, will have some sports to look forward to this year, after all.

I'll finish this story tomorrow because I have some college homework still to do tonight, which is due tomorrow.  I just wanted to get these photos up while the story is still warm.

This is a basketball that is kids' size, not professional
size.  This is the ABA basketball.  I found out
that basketballs are made in different sizes when
I bought one for my daughter-in-law.

Inside the Boilerhouse restaurant.  I usually do not
take photos inside a bar but this seemed to be
a public occasion.  The snacks were really good,
especially the nachos.

Only good news!

From below, she is almost unreal, but there is
a glass wall that apparently has lines in it
between me and the second floor stage.
